Mounted my new 407k on my G48 last night and went to the range today.
I’m a convert to the dot now, definitely nice with my 52 year old eyes.
Ran it with 124 Good Dot and 147 HST. Definitely preferred the Gold Dot.
The last round in the mag of gold dot I was using for sight in went pretty much dead center at 15 yards.
For some of you this may be normal, but I’m not THAT good. Lol.
I decided that was a good note to end on. :)

Got the new Garmin Chrono, so I'm shooting a bit of everything.
Today was a Sig P320 and P365 Macro with Winchester M1152.
Chrono works perfectly, and I was very happy til I remembered that I had to crawl around on the ground scrounging my brass.

More revolvers, more reloads!
I started with the problem child 617. This time I remembered to bring my MiniMags plus a 6" Ruger MKIV Standard and a 22/45 Lite for testing. First cylinder of Aguila, only 2 out of 10 fired. Loaded the 8 rounds that didn't fire into the 6" Standard and they all went bang. Second cylinder of Aguila, only 5 out of 10 fired. Loaded the unfired 5 into the 22/45 Lite and they all went bang. Third cylinder was Minimags and they all fired first time around. At this point all I can conclude is there is something about the Aguila the 617 does not like. I ended up shooting a total of 40 Minimags through the 617 and 39 fired the first time. Both Rugers seem to like the Aguila so that's good news since I bought 2000 rounds of it before I knew the 617 was going to be finicky.

During a string of fire with the 22/45, something dark flew through my vision as it was ejecting an empty. After finishing the magazine I saw the up arrow button was missing from the sight. I found it on the bench and put it in the case so I could keep track of it. Near the end of the session, once again I saw something dark flying through the air and this time it was the down arrow button. I'll drop a dab of clear epoxy on the buttons and reinstall eventually™.

Last week I loaded up 50 .38 Specials with 158gr Berrys flat points and 3.7gr W231. Today I ran them through the 3" 686, 3" and 4" Kimber K6s and one of the Rossi RP63s. The load feels very close to Fed GMM across those revolvers so that will probably become my go-to load with plated or coated cast. Next I'll start working up wadcutter loads.

2.25" with 77gr tmk shooting prone at 200 yards.
55gr fmj is 4.7" with a very similar poi. My 75gr loads with rmr bullets are under 3" and so are my 62gr jsp
It was a lot of fun hitting nearly every shot standing at 200 yards on my 10x12 plate

First time shooting my P49. I have wanted one for decades, finally picked one up. This thing lives up to the hype.

Steel Targets
The TWRA opened up a steel target section for pistols only last week at Stones River Hunter Education Center. I've never had a steel range nearby before (that I know of), so I took my Combat Commander, my Security-Six, my M&P 22 Compact, and my PX4 over there to try something different.

Beyond the normal firearm safety protocol, they have only four rules:
the range is always HOT; no holsters, shoot only from low-ready or above; do not shoot above the berm; do not shoot below the retaining wall. Shoot as fast as you want to!
It's hard to tell how well I was shooting. Of course, when you hit a target it rings. But is it the right one? And if dirt kicks up on the berm it's likely a miss. To tell the truth, at only 15 yards with earpro and my tinnitus it was hard to distinguish between the report and the gong. I saw a lot of dirt puffs!
It was fun! But it went so fast. 314 rounds in less than 20 minutes. The RSO told me he has not had any shooter spend a full hour there yet.
I'll have to take more ammo with me next time I go.

Shot the local Bullseye match this morning. During the rapid fire strings (5 rounds in 10 seconds(? or is 20 sec?), start over and shoot another 5 rounds in the same time allotment) I shot this group at 25 yards with my Ruger .22LR with a 6 MOA C-More and 40 gr Blazer bullets. And using both hands, freestyle.
The guy running the match told me to pull that target down and he'd sign it as it was 100/100. That's the first time I've shot a 100 on a string of fire. My final score was 853 with 22 Xs.
