Yes on both counts. But that also doesn't mean manufacturers shouldn't have some responsibility in making their products as error proof as realistically possible. Determining what is realistic and...
This ties into my wondering about a pencil test standard. It could be used as almost a GO / NO GO.
Ideally we'd have a weighted rod made from something like Delron and some min/max impact...
I'm just going off what I saw posted on another forum. But I'm pretty confident that Staccato will make some kind of formal statement soon.

Staccato is supposed to have a public announcement response in the works to all this. Maybe it is already out. If someone sees or has seen it, please link it here.

Nice looking heater.
I see there's also a full monolithic railed version available too. So ACW offers three versions of the Hicap now. I'd still probably opt for the 4.25" gun.
How's your...
I wonder about the CA approved models. Isn't it a big process to get guns added to the CA roster? Maybe SIG is just not going to bother with the Golden State.

SIG may roll this new slide pattern into the STX and the couple other 1911s still being made.

You mean with the optic cut? Maybe. I think they'd be better off doing this gun in 9mm.

Yes.
Yes and no? There's some debate on what "standard rail" is. Do Kimbers, Springfields, Caspian guns all use a common rail? If so, then it seems SIG is the odd maker.
Edited to add...
What might be kind of useful is some sort of "pencil launch" height stat.
How high will a 23# hammer spring and steel pin / standard spring toss a new and un-sharpened #2 pencil?
What about a...
I'd say anything that is closer to the primer (and held by a spring alone) is going to be less safe based solely on the proximity to the primer. It may be possible to find a spring and long pin combo...
Nothing is failsafe. With firearms in general and 1911s in particular.

The current pattern grip safeties with the large pad above the mainspring housing are much easier to deactivate.

These are handsome pistols. If that adjective can be applied to an inanimate object. If I were to drop...
In a stroke of good fortune, my extra MAC / Tisas firing pin came in today's mail. The length and weight of this one is the same as the one posted above. That's encouraging to Tisas QC I'd say.
...
Then the next question would be how much longer and then when does the length alone become a concern. Or does it?
My small sample indicates that 2.29" is not uncommon. 2.31" from Ruger may be a...
All four guns pass the pencil test although it seems the Ruger and MAC launch the pistol the least. Mainspring weight across the guns is unknown.
I suppose a next step would be to buy a Wolff XXP...
I posted this info in the Staccato C thread but it applies here too.
Random firing pin lengths and weights.
Ruger titanium. 32.1 grains. 2.29" long
Tisas/MAC titanium. 34.4 grains. 2.31"...
Here's some random firing pin info.
Ruger titanium. 32.1 grains. 2.29" long
Tisas/MAC titanium. 34.4 grains. 2.31" long
Springfield Armory steel. Series 70 rear profile. .070" tip. 63.9...
Did he call out Staccato and Atlas specifically? I thought he said some makers are using longer pins without naming any specific brand(s).

Yes. I think the light pin and heavy spring is probably an acceptable option. There may even be a newer more better combo of firing pin spring, hammer spring and light firing pin that Staccato can...
