I’ve become addicted to Model 12s. Here is what I have now, three 12s and a Pre-12.
FWIW, I weighed them all a few days ago. Empty weights:
12-2 4” RB with grip adapter 21.06 oz...
I have had two SSG-69s; one right now. After trading the first one off, I missed it and got another one a few years ago. There are certainly better rifles now, and I have a couple myself, but the...
Rourke was also backed up by a buddy with an MP40 he insisted on calling a Schmeisser.
“Problematic” is an understatement.
And one more! I sent payment today for a Pre-M12 2” RB.
This one probably won’t see much use, if any at all. It’s an early one with the aluminum cylinder.
Just over two months ago, I only had one 2" K frame. Then I got the 2" model 15 I posted earlier, doubling my numbers.
A square butt 2" never seemed like something I particularly wanted. After...
LGS had one last week. I had little interest, but it was handed to me so I gave it a quick look.
It looked pretty good. Nicely made and finished, felt right. Smooth action.
I don't know about...
Everybody likes to think their M1941 is an ex-USMC rifle, but the truth is more went to Chile than the Marines.
Speaking of the Marines, here’s a fun maybe-fact:
When the Marines made their...
I have one. As a Garand lover, when the opportunity came up to buy an M1941 Johnson several years ago, I had to jump on it. Being able to compare the two was too much temptation to resist.

I think we're all getting away from the point here, which is Model 12s are AWESOME.
Nice! I was in a Grant Cunningham revolver class a few years ago with someone using a Speed Six. I had trouble concentrating while looking over at that Speed Six with revolver envy all the time.
I well remember reading that piece in one of his article compilation books. I still like his final product.
135 Gold Dots.
Except for the model 12s. They get standard pressure 125 Nyclad HP.
One in nickel:

Just to add fuel to the fire:
Lyman/Ideal used to make a sorta kinda 9mm wadcutter mould. It has a fairly large button on the nose, so it looks almost like a SWC. Weight is approximately 140...
I keep thinking about these and wondering how much trouble it would be to mount a red dot.
Its only a matter of money, right?
Right?
Speed Sixes are damn cool.
All I've heard or read about pulling model 12 barrels are horror stories. I'm sure there has to be some successes out there, but I've yet to find one.
There is a lot of suspicion that quite a...
I carry what’s become the standard, I guess: Speer 135 +P Gold Dots.
The exception is the Model 12, where I dip into my stash of Std Pressure 125 HP Nyclads.
I voted a while back but didn’t comment. When I carry revolver-only, I carry two speedloaders and a 2x2x2.
Hmmm. I have a 4” RB Model 12 I don’t use, and that sounds like a good idea.
I’ve now shot my 2” M15 a few times. Although I’ve heard and read that the 2” 15 shoots like a 4”, I never took that very seriously.
But it does.
I have a 4” 15 that shoots pretty well, and...
Before this weekend I had only one revolver in this category. Now I’ve got two. 114809
I’ve had the 1974 2” M12 a while and love it. That’s the first thing I’d want if S&W did a K-frame Ultimate...
That to me is a hell of a good question.
I think most people would pick a Henry. I don’t like Henrys as much as most people seem to like them. They simply never appealed to me.
On the other...
