For what it's worth, from the CMC FAQ page https://cmproducts.com/cm-faqs

Our 8-round Power Mags have increased reliability and a longer service life. One reason is that we use “Rocket Wire” in the spring. That spring has three more coils than our flush fitting, fixed base magazines, like Chip McCormick Custom's Match Grade and Classic magazines.

Dan Wesson A2 is the pistol I primarily use when shooting the 1911 platform. The CMC magazine I started with the was the Power Mag. They work 100% in the A2. When the Railed Mag came out, I purchased two. They work 100% as well. If I purchase more CMC mags, it would be the Railed version. I think they are worth the few extra bucks when compared with the Power Mag. As always, I check various vendors for the best price.

    @WilsonCombatRep

Can you help with the purchase of replacement springs for the RPMs? TIA!

I ordered the hybrids directly from Checkmate. They give a LE discount.

I wasn't really talking about the feed lips, but rather the tube length.

The one piece of technology from CMC that did migrate to the Wilson mags is the railed feed lips are also now available on Wilson's 10 rounders.

The RPM seems good but it is the only .45 magazine I have to UpLula.

Send in a magazine for a spring? Maybe it is something to do with Wilson management.

I was seeing misfeeds with the extinct CMC XP 9mm that I attributed to flabby springs. I inquired and Brandon said they would not likely wind any more of those springs so he sent me a double set (24) out of the remaining inventory AT NO CHARGE.
He had previously found some leftover uncatalogued thick base pads for those magazines, although I did pay for them.

Interesting, the return address on the package of springs was Bogata, Texas, present home of IDPA. I don't know what sort of consolidation between CMC, WC, and IDPA that might represent.

My last previous purchase of 8x.45s was from Checkmate and I made the mistake of ordering the short tube variant. It will HOLD 8 rounds, but has hardly any slack and cannot be loaded under a closed slide for 8+1.

That first mag (which is a legacy 1911 length tube and collapsing follower) is what Les Baer was using with his guns at one time. People on the various forums weren't very happy with this mag. "Buy a really expensive 1911 and get a cheap rather blah mag with it." I don't know what the LB guns are shipping with now.

The second mag with the extended tube is what my Ruger 45 came with. These seem to be pretty decent. I note that this is one of the only mags I have that has the more tapered FMJ feed lips. All the rest seem to be some version of the wadcutter feed lips.

That would surprise me. I thought Les Baer mags used a polymer follower?

Both of those CheckMate's linked at Top Gun Supply use the same CheckMate Patented Follower (CMF).

My memory could be failing me. Or it could be that Check Mate will make whatever combo of spring/follower/tube you want.

Looking at the Baer site it looks like the current mags are using a follower similar to the one used by MEC-GAR.

Anyway, back to the railed power mags. I will try to get out into the hills tomorrow and give my new mags a try.
