I work with US/UK Trident missiles.

Navy procedure for using snap-action type torque wrenches is to set them at 60% and exercise them 8 times before use.

Torque wrenches are also set to the lowest torque value when put away after use.

In some applications where more precision is required, we set the torque value on a torque wrench using a torque analyzer instead of the scale on the torque wrench handle.

We never use a torque wrench in which the torque value is within the upper or lower 20-percent of the torque wrench's range due to inaccuracies at the extreme ranges. Choose a torque wrench in which the torque value falls as close to the middle of a torque wrench's torque range.

Torque wrenches are sent to the Navy Cal lab for calibration at least once/year (more often if it's used a lot).

The Wheeler FAT Wrench is a hobby grade torque wrench.
