Thumb safety way too stiff, which he cleaned up.
Factory-supplied BUIS shot way low for him. Different rear sight installed.
Lock-back issues, he suspects a problem with the slide stop/release.
Optic mounting plate screws kept working loose.
A few other minor things that are mostly personal preference.
Thanks. I'm sorry to hear of any issues. Pre-pandemic/Colt-CZ merger DW was the most solid option in factory guns.
We may lose and we may win, but we will never be here again.......

I also experienced all of those issues except the stiff thumb safety:

The lock-back issues went away after the first 100 rounds or so and a field strip cleaning.

I think that DW’s decision to use a ramped barrel in the 45ACP version of this gun is a mistake…at least from a functional perspective; maybe not from a profitability standpoint. It would be interesting to know when the majority of Hilton’s FTF malfunctions occurred in his 2K review. DW las long maintained that their guns need a roughly 500-round break-in where cleaning is needed after every 50 rounds and feeding malfunctions are expected as the parts become acquainted. While I’m annoyed with break-in procedures, I’ve followed DW’s recommendations for all 4 of my DWs since it’s literally in their manual. I would feel differently if his malfunctions all occurred in the first 500-700 rounds and he only cleaned the gun twice.

Otherwise, there are a couple of themes with the DW Specialists across multiple calibers. First, I too have had slide lock and feeding issues in both the 45ACP and 10mm Specialist attributed to slide stop defects and its barrel link. Second, the 45ACP absolutely shoots 3-5’’ low at 25 feet. This could be areas that DW’s QC could address.

    I miss pre-COVID Dan Wesson.
